  • The newly opened Hotel Per La in Los Angeles, built in a historic Italian bank that dates back to the 1920’s, is designed to make travelers feel like they’ve been transported to Italy. 

  • Delta Air is launching transatlantic service to eight European destinations for the summer of 2023, including Los Angeles to London and Atlanta to Edinburgh, expanding Delta’s transatlantic capacity by 8%.  

  • Bonaire Island is launching a campaign to send five ‘Earthonauts’ on an all-expenses-paid trip to enjoy the island in an eco-conscious manner, with winners participating in activities like opening mangrove channels in Lac Bay and maintaining the Bonaire Donkey Sanctuary.

  • President Biden has announced mandates for airlines and travel sites to increase transparency in additional fees for travelers, such as cancellations and checked baggage.

  • Leading luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has announced a new voyage line that will embark in some of the most remote and beautiful cold-weather areas, such as the British Isles, Iceland and the Arctic. There are a total of 25 new expeditions ranging from six to eighteen days.

  • On Wednesday, Four Seasons announced its newest project, Four Seasons Yachts, which is expected to deliver its first vessel by the end of 2025.

Health-Related Updates

  • Canada is dropping their Covid-19 vaccine requirement on September 30, allowing unvaccinated travelers to enter the country for the first time since before the pandemic.

  • Munich will welcome visitors for its 187th Oktoberfest, which is being held for the first time since the pandemic hit. In June, Germany dropped all COVID restrictions. 

  • Hong Kong eliminated its quarantine requirements for international travelers in an attempt to economically catch up to other nations that have loosened their COVID restrictions.
