*looks around* wait — is it the Friday before holiday break? How can that be? Per usual, this year has flown by and we are so grateful for all the amazing work we did together in 2023. Whether it’s snowing or sunshining outside your window, there’s no doubt it’s time for a little R&R. In lieu of the download this week, team D/R would like to share something a little different than usual. Please enjoy this ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ parody OOO notice, written by one of our lovely team members Kayla Ibe. Feel free to steal it for yourself. Have a Happy Holidays everyone, and a Happy New Year!
Baby It’s cold outside
This email can’t wait (But it’s the holiday break)
It’s not even that late (But it’s the holiday break)
I’ll quickly respond (No need to correspond)
A simple note (Leave it behind and grab your new coat)
My computer will start to miss me (Staring at Outlook just isn’t healthy)
What if I miss something in Teams? (Really it’s not that extreme)
I’ll quickly just check my email (That would be a holiday fail)
Maybe I’ll just shut my laptop a bit (That’s the spirit, it’s time to quit)
My coworkers might think… (They’re also on break)
Should I just grab a drink? (That wouldn’t be a mistake)
I wish I knew how (You’re getting closer now)
To fully unplug (It’s time to be a lazy slug)
I ought to take a last look at my inbox (Go put on some holiday socks)
At least I’m gonna say that I tried (It’s time to put work aside)
I really can’t reply (Tell them why!)
Because it’s hoool-iday breeee-ak
As a bonus from Kayla, read on if you’re curious about what the D/R team members will get up to over break…
'Twas the week of winter holidays, and all through the office
Not a worker was working, not a single one of us
OOO’s were set, notifications silenced,
Manifesting quiet from each of the clients
Computers were stored away in cases
As employees headed off to new and exotic places
For some this was Europe, for others, New Jersey
But it’s not about the destination, rather, the journey
The entire team spoke of plans with friends and family
And looked ahead to the break most joyous and happily
Cathy talks of preparing a Christmas meal for twenty-three
As the rest of us think “Oh thank god that’s not me”
A New York tradition with family is in store for Stacy
As she enjoys a show with the Rockettes at Radio City
A trip across the pond to ring in the New Year for Devyn
Her itinerary the center of many of our obsessions
Just this past week, Lindsay’s sister welcomed a new baby
And she’s off to meet, and possibly steal him, maybe?
Kristin stays relaxed with plenty of mindfulness and yoga
And testing new essential oils of exciting aromas
Shopping for a new car is on Megan’s to do list
Unless Santa drops one under the tree first (perhaps a Lexus?)
Jenna’s family flocks to New Jersey to celebrate her niece’s first Christmas
Traveling near and far to mark the occasion, no matter the distance
A binge watch of every 2023 film will likely fill Courtney’s time
And bonus points if the movie is free on Amazon Prime
Kayla will spend a week on the couch, interspersed with baking
Recreating holiday recipes thirty years in the making
With the winter break providing the opportune setting for reading,
Melannie will get through a large pile of books, Goodreads challenge exceeded
It’s back to her home state of Washington for Bailee
Where a White Christmas may actually be a possibility
Warm weather and sunshine will fill Alexa’s week in Florida
For her a snowy Christmas sounds the epitome of horrible
Aly will be enjoying lounging about in NJ
Not far from the city, but the perfect quick winter getaway
Tania is spending time with friends from college in whimsical Portland
Where the adventures awaiting are sure to be grand
Barcelona is calling to adventurous Bre
Where her days will be filled with tapas and cava by the sea
A European getaway also awaits Chloe this season
As she explores the magic of France, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden
Alexia’s holiday is taking her East to new places
As she rings in the New Year in Boston with many new faces
With social calendars filled and plans taking shape
The team eagerly rejoices in this mini work escape
Soon the laptops will be reopened, the desks once again sat at
The inboxes sorted with strategic plans of attack
The to-do lists will grow, and Teams notifications resume pinging
The Zooms will be scheduled, the phones will recommence ringing
The New Year approaches with a sense of anticipation
As there is so much potential for new idea creation!
But before we look too far ahead and wish our time off away
We will take this well-deserved week to rest and/or play
So for now, sit back and enjoy this time without meetings
And I wish you all happy holidays, and seasons greetings!
