  • Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's recent viral vacation took place at the Rosalita House on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. The resort costs $15,000 per night and offers six bedrooms, a pool, lush gardens, a fully equipped gym, and personal services including chefs, butlers, and housekeepers.

  • The Francis Scott Key Bridge has collapsed in Baltimore, Maryland after a cargo ship collided with the bridge on Tuesday, causing multiple injuries and significant traffic disruptions.

Industry Insights

  • The wealthy are shifting their preferences for luxury travel, seeking out quiet and discreet destinations over popular ones. This trend, known as "quiet luxury," is driven by a desire for more meaningful experiences, family connections, and enhanced security. 

  • According to Google's search data for summer 2024, London is the most popular travel destination, followed by Paris and Tokyo. Rome and New York also made it to the top five. Solo travelers showed a particular interest in Bali, while Turks and Caicos emerged as a popular choice for both family travel and couples trips.

  • Google announced 4 new AI tools to help travelers plan their summer vacations: generative AI in search which provides personalized travel tips, recommendation lists of restaurants, experiences, and more in maps; on-screen translation features, and personalized wardrobes in Google shopping. 

  • A study conducted by CV Villas has ranked the beaches with the bluest waters in the world. Using color theory, researchers compared the RGB codes from images of 200 popular beaches with the bluest shade of blue, YInMn Blue. The top three beaches with the bluest waters were Pasqyra Beach in Albania, Paralia Mpouka in Greece, and Kassiopi in Greece.

  • Airbnb has announced that guests will now be able to cancel reservations due to “foreseeable weather events” with no consequences and full refunds with an upcoming updated policy. 

  • Renowned ski town Steamboat Springs is struggling to find workers amid the ongoing housing crisis, where seasonal workers cannot find a place to live due to an increased cost of living. 

  • The Four Seasons announced its first luxury cruise ship will travel to the Caribbean and Mediterranean with departures starting in January 2026 to the Caribbean and March 2026 in the Mediterranean.

  • Dave Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing, announced he will be stepping down following incidents with the company’s 737 Max airplanes.

  • Southwest Airlines has confirmed they will introduce red-eye flights in the next two years. The airline plans to pilot overnight flights from both Las Vegas and Hawaii, aiming to fly about 50 red-eye flights per day upon launch.

  • United Airlines has officially launched new accessibility features allowing passengers in wheelchairs to easily find flights to accommodate their needs. Passengers can input the dimensions of their mobility equipment into a filter on the app or website to help find the right flight for them.

  • Uber has announced a discount of 16% off rides in celebration of Beyonce's new album Cowboy Carter in connection with her single 16 Carriages. After users tweeted their disappointment in the low discount,  Lyft put out their own offer of 50% off rides to one-up Uber.
